After more than 30 years in showbiz, Marisa Tomei is one of Hollywood's most sought-after stars. But to get to the top, the 52-year-old star has made many sacrifices, including the decision to never get married.

In an exclusive new interview with Closer Weekly, one of Marisa's close friends revealed the actress has never been focused on having a traditional family. "[It] wasn't something she ever truly pursued — even in her twenties," the insider said. "Work has really been her life force."

"I’m not that big a fan of marriage as an institution," Marisa once said. "And I don’t know why women need to have children to be seen as complete human beings."

In the past, the My Cousin Vinny star has had her fair share of hot Hollywood romances. From 2008 until 2013, Marisa was in an on-again, off-again relationship with actor Logan Marshall-Green. She's also dated her Spider-Man: Homecoming co-star Robert Downey Jr.

In the new Spider-Man flick — which hit theaters on Friday, July 7 — Marisa portrayed May Parker, Peter Parker's matronly aunt who was formerly played by Rosemary Harris and Sally Field. "Marisa’s at an age where she can play younger or older, and that means more opportunities," the star's friend told Closer.

Marisa has even admitted she'd love to play the beloved Marvel comic book character in another movie. "Aunt May should get her own spin-off. Something should go on with [Robert Downey Jr.'s character] Tony Stark, and those two should get into their own capers," she recently said.

So what's next for Marisa? "She’s hoping to do a Broadway musical," her pal revealed. One thing is for sure — whatever Marisa does it's sure to be awesome!
