This isn’t looking good for Mariah Carey. The pop star is allegedly having trouble selling tickets for her Butterfly Returns shows that kick off at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Thursday, July 5.

“It’s a disaster,” an insider told Page Six. “Scalpers bought a bunch of the tix and are freaking out.” The opening show still has seats available, but luckily for Mariah, the Butterfly Returns residency will last three months, so there’s still a chance for her to have sold out shows.

Mariah previously fired her protective manager, Stella Bulochnikov, in November, and hasn’t performed since December. However, Mariah maybe should have thought more about her decision to let Bulochnikov go, as she allegedly had a plan to book a smaller space in Vegas “so they could keep announcing sold-out shows.” The insider shared, “Instead, they put her back in Caesars with 4,300 seats.”

This news comes after it was reported that Mariah sold her 35-carat, $10 million engagement ring from her ex-fiancé, James Packer, and replaced it with a butterfly bauble (how fitting). “Mariah has been very vocal recently about her choice to move forward in her life surrounded by positivity,” her publicist told Page Six. “That requires leaving emotional and material baggage behind, including an old engagement ring from an ex-boyfriend.”

Some are assuming she needs the money since she’s having trouble filling seats at her shows, however, her publicist is arguing otherwise. She is denying the rumors and is insinuating it actually might be hard to get to see Mariah in Vegas at this point. “These allegations are false and come from a source that must be desperate to pretend to be in the know,” she said. “Look forward to seeing you at the Vegas show — if you can get a seat!” We’ll be attending, that’s for sure!
