They grow up so fast! Dancing With the Stars pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd became first-time parents back in January when Peta gave birth to their first child — a baby boy named Shai — and now their little boy is already walking and getting into trouble. Peta shared an adorable video of her son taking his first steps and having an adorable fit when he realizes that his mom already child-proofed one of his favorite spots in the house. Watch Shai walk in the video below!

He’s so determined! The nine-month-old baby boy isn’t so steady on his feet, but he has a lot of practicing to do if he’s going to be a dancer like his mom and dad! Peta and Maks are currently competing against each other on Season 25 of the hit ABC dance competition series and the husband-and-wife duo are taking on another husband-and-wife duo, 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey and TV personality Vanessa Lachey — and while things seem to be going smoothly for Nick and Peta, that’s not the case for Maks and Vanessa.

Last week, Maks refused to perform alongside his partner and cited “personal issues,” which stemmed from a feud between them. But now it seems like water under the bridge, because they’re set to perform together this week — which is good news because baby Shai loves to watch his parents on TV! Last month, Peta said that Shai is getting so smart and he can now recognize his parents while they’re working on the show.

My Prince Shai….you gave me the title of Mother, and you have given me my proudest moments in life. I am forever your protector and you will always hold a special place in my heart. I understand what my mother used to say now…a mothers love for her child is unlike any other, I had to have you though to understand ❤️ To all the mothers out there, I want to say……we're incredible, we're resilient super humans, our bodies are wildly strong and we create little miracles, we have to LOVE ourselves and be PROUD ….I have learnt more about myself in these past 4 months with the joy of having a child. It's moments like these, where I find myself looking back and appreciating my greatest influencer, my mother, more than ever before.

“While we danced last week, my nanny actually said that [Shai] recognized me on TV,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Last season — when he was really young — he didn’t recognize me when I came into the trailer to see him, because I had so much makeup on and hair. He was like, ‘Who are you?'”
