Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd’s Son Shai Is Already Training for ‘Dancing With the Stars’ With Uncle Val’s Help!

He's following in mommy and daddy's footsteps! It's been six months since Dancing With the Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd gave birth to her baby son Shai, and he's already getting lessons from his daddy — DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Uncle Val Chmerkovskiy! Maks shared an adorable video clip of the dancing lesson on Instagram.

In the clip, music played in the background as Maks, 37, held his baby boy and Val, 31, stood in front of them, holding Shai's tiny hands as he showed him some salsa moves. Peta, 31, giggled as she recorded the adorable clip, and Shai smiled wide at his momma and the camera during his lesson.

"DNA," the proud papa wrote in the caption. "Something about some fruit and some trees. [Val] with first instructions and I just noticed that Shai doesn't have a shirt on."

Even though Shai wasn't exactly camera-ready for his first dance lesson, fans still flooded the comments and gushed over how cute he looks. "I can't wait to watch him dance. He's going to be amazing…speaking of DNA," one fan wrote, and another commented, "Your kid is going to be a dancer for sure."

But even though it seems like it's inevitable that baby Shai will grow up to be a dancer since both of his parents and his uncle are professionals, Peta and Maks don't necessarily want their little boy to follow in their footsteps. During an interview with Good Morning America back in February, Maks had a surprising reaction when asked when he thinks Shai will start dancing.

“Oh geez, I hope never,” Maks said, and Peta agreed. She said that she would “thank God” if baby Shai grows up and tells them he never wants to be a dancer. But that doesn’t mean that they don’t want their son to stay out of the spotlight because daddy has another profession in mind for his son — a “billion-dollar contract” with the NBA.
