Maksim, who left the show after season 26, appeared to stop by to wish his spouse good luck. Peta has been competing as a professional dancer on the show since September 2011, and she’s won the dancing competition twice. Maksim, on the other hand, has made it to the final round five times, but after 17 seasons on the program, he decided DWTS just wasn’t for him.
“I’m a dad, I’m a husband,” he said about his departure during a previous appearance on The Real. “Your chemistry changes when you have a child, things look different, they seem different.”
The Lost Luck actor and Peta share their 3-year-old son, Shai. Sometimes, Maksim will bring their son on set when Peta has off-hours during the day. But her schedule is bound to get a little busier when DWTS returns for season 29 on September 14. This year the show will be different as Tyra Banks replaces Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews as the host of the program. She’ll also be acting as executive producer.
“To be honest, I was shocked. I was sad,” Peta previously told Us Weekly about the news. “I was sad that chapter of the show is done, and it made me emotional on the call. I was, like, ‘Oh, my God, Tom’s not going to be there anymore? Like, he is the show.’”
Aside from the changes in staff, fans also learned who’ll be competing on the new season. Some stars who joined the cast are Tiger King‘s Carole Baskin, The Real‘s Jeannie Mai, Selling Sunset‘s Chrishell Stause, Grammy winner Nelly and Catfish‘s Nev Schulman. Although it could be anyone’s game, we wish everyone the best of luck.
