She’s speaking out. Earlier this week, Beverly Hills, 90210 alum Luke Perry passed away after suffering a massive stroke — and shortly after his death, it was revealed that he was engaged to Wendy Madison Bauer. Now, the late actor’s fiancée is breaking her silence for the first time since the Riverdale star’s untimely death.
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support,” Wendy said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. “The countless, heartwarming stories of Luke’s generosity and kindness have been a great source of solace during this difficult time.”
“The past 11½ years with Luke were the happiest years of my life, and I am grateful to have had that time with him,” she added. “I also want to thank his children, family and friends for their love and support. We have found comfort in one another and in the knowledge that our lives were touched by an extraordinary man. He will be dearly missed.”
Luke and Wendy were first spotted together in April 2017 at the GLAAD Media Awards, but other than that, they had kept their relationship private. According to her LinkedIn, she is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Beverly Hills. She is also an actress and made brief appearances on TV shows including The Mentalist, House and Crash, according to her IMDb.
As Closer previously reported, Luke suffered a stroke on February 27 at his home in Sherman Oaks, California. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remained under care until his death five days later.
“Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke,” his rep said in a statement obtained by Closer following the news of his tragic death. “He was surrounded by his children, Jack and Sophie, fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder and other close family and friends. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”
