London Eye Will Light Up With Red, White and Blue When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Baby Arrives
Everyone is eagerly awaiting Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s baby — especially London. They’re so excited, in fact, they will paint the sky red, white and blue when the moment arrives.
The city will do so with the London Eye, an observation wheel that is not only Europe’s tallest observation wheel but is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom. It only makes sense that this landmark will notify all when the Duchess of Sussex, 37, gives birth. It will proudly show the colors of the Union Jack and the flag of the former actress’ home country’s over the River Thames.
This isn’t the first time London has done this to honor new members of the royal family. It was just last April that Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed their third child, Prince Louis. The famous wheel was lit-up in the same colors, although the Tower Bridge went all blue for the boy’s arrival.
The celebrations aren’t limited to just London. Back in 2013, after the birth of Prince George, Toronto decided to shine blue lights from the CN tower.
The arrival of the newest royal baby will, of course, be quite the media fanfare. Meghan’s former Suits star’s shower already had all eyes on it and was all anybody could talk about for weeks. The mom-to-be had the bash in New York City over two days in February. Some very familiar faces showed up to the celebration, including Amal Clooney and Serena Williams.
The event reportedly cost about $200,000, and it stopped traffic. It was so different from royal traditional that Meghan was apparently made “aware that Kensington Palace and the royal family, that’s not the way they do it with a big, flashy baby shower,” according to a source who spoke to Us Weekly.
Regardless, everyone will be quite excited once the royal baby arrives to greet us all.
