Family means everything to Laura Dern! After winning the award in the Best Supporting Actress category for Marriage Story at the 2020 Oscars, the beloved actress took the stage. During her speech, Laura gave a special, heartfelt shout-out to mom Diane Ladd, dad Bruce Dern and her two kids — son Ellery, 18 and daughter Jaya, 15.

“I would like to say a special thank you to the gifts of the love stories in my life: my stepchildren, C.J. and Harris, my heart and inspiration, Ellery and Jaya,” the 53-year-old beauty gushed on stage after beating fellow nominees Kathy Bates for Richard Jewell, Scarlett Johansson for Jojo Rabbit, Florence Pugh for Little Women and Margot Robbie for Bombshell.

“And you know, some say: ‘Never meet your heroes,'” Laura continued. “But I say if you’re really blessed, you get them as your parents. I share this with my acting heroes, my legends, Diane Ladd and Bruce Dern.”

As the Big Little Lies star — who shares her two children with ex-husband Ben Harper and is also the proud stepmom of his two kids with ex-wife Joanna Harper — opened up her heart while accepting the prestigious award, mom Diane, 84, could be seen holding back tears from the audience.

“You got game, I love you,” Laura said to the Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore star. “Thank you all for this gift, this is the best birthday present ever. I love you, I love my friends. You lift me up every day.”

Earlier in the night, the doting mom was all smiles as she hit the red carpet with her beloved family. The Jurassic Park star — the first actor to win an Oscar for a Netflix movie — rocked an elegant, silky pink gown as she arrived on the red carpet with her mom and kids.

Laura couldn’t help but gush about turning the biggest night in Hollywood into family date night while chatting with host during red carpet arrivals. Before dedicating her speech to her highly accomplishment parents, the Golden Globe winner praised them in the sweetest way.

“It’s family affair! My parents have dedicated their lives to acting and they love films so much,” she marveled over following in their famous footsteps. “The legacy of the academy means a lot to them, so I’ve grown up holding it dearly.”

You deserve it, Laura!
