Well, this is uncomfortable.
Kristi Yamaguchi took to Twitter on Monday, March 20 to wish fellow Olympic figure skater and friend Nancy Kerrigan good luck during the Season 24 premiere of Dancing With the Stars. But, fans were not too happy about Kristi’s message because she told Nancy to “break a leg” on the show!
“So excited for you, @NancyAKerrigan! Can’t wait to see you grace that ballroom floor, break a leg! #DWTS,” the 45-year-old athlete wrote on the micro-blogging site.

For those who need a refresher, Nancy rose to mega-fame back in the 1990s when her skating rival, Tonya Harding, arranged for an assailant to attack her with a police baton in an effort to break her leg rendering her unable to compete. During the incident, Nancy sustained a bad knee injury, though her leg was not broken.
“That may or may not have been a good choice of words,” one Twitter user replied to Kristi’s message with another adding, “Why, why, why hasn’t this tweet been deleted… are you that naive?”
Though we’re sure Kristi meant no harm with her Tweet, the text did elicit quite the internet reaction — too funny! Nancy later responded to her friend’s message and seemed totally gracious despite the awkward gaffe.

“Thank you so much, Kristi! I’m excited to get this started!” the 47-year-old wrote on Twitter.
Nancy is paired with pro partner Artem Chigvintsev for this new season of DWTS. Kristi previously competed on the hit reality show with partner Mark Ballas. She was later named the Season 6 winner and took home the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy in May 2008.
