King Charles III has been staying active amid his cancer battle. The monarch revealed his exercise regimen ahead of his 76th birthday.

Charles, 75, hosted Olympic and Paralympic athletes at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, November 7 with his sister, Princess Anne.

It was there that he told the athletes that he “exercises twice a day” and “squats and does the pull-up bar,” according to The Telegraph.

Charles “has previously been known to adhere to a strict regimen of Royal Navy-style exercises, learned during his time in the Armed Forces, like his father [the late Prince Philip] before him,” per the outlet.

Queen Camilla was noticeably absent from the appearance as she is currently recovering from a chest infection.

“Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest,” the palace said in a statement on November 5.

“With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal,” the statement continued. “She apologizes to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”

In February, Charles publicly shared that he was diagnosed with cancer, not specifying what type of cancer he had. Since then, the palace has shared periodic updates on his health and treatment.

Buckingham Palace revealed that Charles will be heading overseas in 2025.

“We’re now working on a pretty normal looking full overseas tour programme for next year, which is a high for us to end on, to know that we can be thinking in those terms,” a Palace official said in October.

His family has also been supportive during this difficult period.

“The King is strong. He is doing what he can. He’s following the advice of his doctors. Fingers crossed, touch wood,” Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, told People in October.

“It’s a terrifying disease, and when someone close to you gets it in whatever capacity, it’s a very worrying thing,” he added. “But my mother is strong as well. She supports him in every way. I think it’s wonderful to have someone you love by your side.”

Princess Kate Middleton also publicly shared her cancer diagnosis in March. She announced in September that she completed chemotherapy treatment. Her husband, Prince William, spoke out on what a difficult year it has been amid the royal family’s health crisis.

“It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life,” William, 42, told reporters during his recent trip to South Africa. “So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.”

“I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done,” he added. “But from a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.”
