It's been just days since actor Kevin Spacey came out as gay after Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp claimed in an interview with [BuzzFeed News](https://www.buzzfeed.com/adambvary/anthony-rapp-kevin-spacey-made-sexual-advance-when-i-was-14?utmterm=.gvRQ4JYQO#.ibG1jW91D)_ that the Hollywood vet made a sexual advance on him as a teenager. And now, a representative for the American Beauty star has confirmed to Us Weekly that he would be seeking treatment following the claims. “Kevin Spacey is taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment,” the rep said. “No other information is available at this time.”
Kevin previously opened up about his sexuality and addressed Anthony's claims in an emotional Instagram post published on Monday, Oct. 30. “This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life,” the 58-year-old wrote. “I know that there are other stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy. As those closest to me know, in my life I have had romantic relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior.”

In the statement, Kevin vehemently apologized to Anthony — but said he does not recall the actor's account of their interaction. “I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor,” the Tony winner wrote. “I’m beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave as he described, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.”
Anthony, 46 — who has been out publicly since 1992 — told the outlet that Kevin made a pass at him in 1986 when both actors were starring on Broadway. Anthony, who was 14 at the time of the alleged encounter, said that Kevin, who was 26, invited him to a party at his apartment. However, the young thespian got bored and went to Kevin’s bedroom to watch TV. After everyone had left the party, Anthony said that Kevin appeared in the doorway of the room, visibly intoxicated.
“He was trying to seduce me. I don’t know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually," he recalled. Years later, Anthony is still haunted by the memory. “I still to this day can’t wrap my head around so many aspects of it,” he said, adding that he was inspired to come forward with his story after Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault scandal. “I’m hopeful that this can make a difference.”
