It’s understandably been an extremely busy time for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, so it’s no surprise that they’re behind on sending wedding thank you cards. The royal couple wed on May 19, and ever since July, they’ve been sending out their black and white wedding portrait taken outside St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle by photographer Alexi Lubomirski to fans.

However, according to Daily Mail, one fan claimed she just received hers — five months since the couple said: “I do.” The card read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their Wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did. It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”

Royal blogger Gertrude Daly, who runs the Gerts Royal Replies blog, revealed her letter came with a separate letter apologizing for the delay from the head of general correspondence, Claudia Spens. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have asked me to thank you for your letter of 24th May and I must apologize for the delay in responding to you. As I am sure you can imagine, this has been a particularly busy time for this office and we have, consequently, been unable to reply as quickly as we should have liked to,” the letter read. “It was so kind of you to take the trouble to write as you did and Their Royal Highnesses were immensely touched by your generous words of support.”

The note concluded, “Although unable to reply to you personally, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have asked me to send you their warmest thanks for your letter and their very best wishes.”

It seems the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been shown up by Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, who tied the knot on Oct. 12 and sent out handwritten thank you cards less than three weeks after. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding so special and for thinking of us as we start our married life. We are completely overwhelmed with happiness. Eugenie + Jack,” they wrote. We’d love a handwritten letter from anyone in the royal family!
