While The Bachelor franchise has tons of fans, it is quite evident now that Kelly Ripa and Ellen Pompeo aren’t all about it, as the pair recently criticized the series.

It all kicked off when the All My Children alum, 48, made her opinions of the ABC program very clear on the May 14 episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan. “Guys, you know how I feel about this show. It disgusts me,” she said. “And I thought that I was disgusted because I couldn’t stand the idea of 25 exceptional women fighting over one ordinary fella, in my opinion. You know how I feel, ladies: We are too special to be arguing over a guy.” The dating show’s creator, Mike Fleiss, and host Chris Harrison were quick to answer back.

“Look out #BachelorNation ⁦@KellyRipa⁩ is coming after you and your ‘disgusting’ Monday night habit,” Chris wrote on Twitter, with Mike tweeting that the franchise “pays” Kelly’s salary.

The Grey’s Anatomy star, 49, whose show is also at the network, chimed in and defended the mother-of-three. “Okay @fleissmeister … that’s some handle bro! Your show does NOT pay @KellyRipa salary,” Ellen tweeted on Thursday, May 16. “Also we don’t attack successful women on our network and men certainly cannot take credit for their success. Don’t get me started on your show cuz I’m a savage..… #bachelorsoooowhite” — the hashtag, of course, a dig at the program’s long-chronicled diversity problem.

It is no surprise to see Ellen speak out, as she has always been about defending others and herself when it comes to social media bullies. The actress once revealed that she received plenty of severe backlash when she openly celebrated those of color.

“If I celebrate anything black I inevitably get a million comments, ‘Why are you?’” Ellen told Jada Pinkett Smith on Red Table Talk. She also added that she knows that the harsh comments are “coming from white people.” “Of course, they are. They are threatened by my love of people of color or black culture,” Ellen, who is married to a man of color, said.

Kelly has not yet replied to the responses from Mike or Chris.
