Kelly McCreary on the Upcoming ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 13 Finale: “Everyone Is In Danger”

It seems like Grey's Anatomy fans better really prepare for the Season 13 finale…

Kelly McCreary (who plays Maggie Pierce on the hit show) opened up in a new interview with E! News about what we can expect in the upcoming last episode of this (once again) very emotional season.

Grey's fans know the series almost always ends with a huge event (mostly a tearjerker) and Kelly assures they're on-trend to do the same this year. "I'll just say it this way: Everyone is in danger. Let's say that," she laughingly admitted.

In last night's heartbreaking episode, Kelly lost her mom Diana (played by LaTanya Richardson Jackson) to breast cancer. The actress opened up about that difficult experience to the news outlet — and revealed what it was like having her co-star and on-screen half-sister Ellen Pompeo (Dr. Meredith Grey) direct it (it was her first directing gig on Grey's).

"It was great. I knew that the story would be treated with a great deal of care because Ellen cares about the show and she knows more about these character than anybody probably besides Shonda [Rhimes]. And she has a personal connection to losing a parent," Kelly confessed. "So, it was great news to know that she would be the one I would be collaborating with on the story."

"She was like a very eager student, and yet she also came prepared with a lot of really great ideas for how to visually enhance the story and add extra layers of symbolism, in addition to just really cool looking shots. They're cool looking for a reason. She made very deliberate choices about how she was telling the story, like any great director does," she continued, "So she had a sort of natural ability in the first place. And yet, there was a lot that she didn't know. So, she had the support of Debbie Allen and Herb Davis, who is our D.P., and they really steered her to help realize her very clear and specific and beautiful vision."
