It looks like Kelly Clarkson‘s life would suck without Brandon Blackstock! The “Because of You” singer and her hubby have proven time and time again that they have one of the strongest relationships in Hollywood, but Brandon’s sweet gesture for his wife while on tour one night in late March took their marriage goals to a whole new level.

During her performance of “Piece by Piece” at a concert in Greenville, South Carolina, the 36-year-old’s husband gave her the surprise of a lifetime when he snuck on stage while Kelly was singing. Brandon, 42, took to the stage with a guitar in hand as he quietly traded it out with the string instrument behind his wife. Take a look at Kelly and Brandon’s emotional performance below!

Although the crowd was filled with screams and yells, the blonde beauty didn’t notice her hubby’s sweet surprise until moments later. “This is my husband,” Kelly gushed to the audience in between breaths while trying her best to keep it together. “I can do this, I can do this!” Luckily, Kelly made it through the entirety of the song — despite having to compose herself a few times — and gave a loving kiss and hug to her husband before he left the stage. “That’s my amazing husband,” she gushed.

The song — which is extremely emotional for Kelly, as she wrote it about her estranged dad — often makes her tear up as it forces the American Idol winner to recall her late father’s abandonment.

Fans of the “Stronger” songstress couldn’t help but get all emotional about Brandon’s heartwarming gesture. “[I] loved seeing this moment in person when @kelly_clarkson’s husband surprised her! Such an emotional moment for everyone and that song has so much meaning to me. Thank you for a wonderful night!” one fan wrote on Twitter. “When @kelly_clarkson’s husband surprised her last night on #PieceByPiece. We cried like babies. #SoSweet #MeaningOfLifeTour,” said another.

Kelly and Brandon have been living a life of marital bliss ever since the two tied the knot in October 2013. Together, the couple shares kids River Rose Blackstock, 4, and Remington Alexander Blackstock, 2. Although they’ve pretty much nailed marriage by now, the lovebirds aren’t afraid to admit that some days are better than others. “If I sat here and told you that everything was perfect, that’d be a damn lie in anybody’s relationship,” the “Since U Been Gone” singer insisted during her Facebook live this past November. “But you have to work at it.”
