Kelly Clarkson Kids: Singer and Brandon Blackstock Share 4 Children

There’s no denying exes Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock have some of the most precious kids. Although the Kelly Clarkson Show star and the music executive called it quits following nearly seven years of marriage with their divorce finalized in March 2022, the former couple is focusing on doing what’s best for their blended brood.

“Kelly and Brandon’s priority is their kids. They’re on board about moving forward with coparenting as their prime concern,” an insider exclusively told Closer after she filed for divorce in early June 2020, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

The “Since U Been Gone” singer and Brandon share their two kids, River Rose and Remington, while the talent manager is also the dad of his eldest children, Savannah and Seth, from his previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth. “They’re working on making this transition as easy as possible for all their kids,” the source explained of the former couple, who tied the knot in 2013. “She considers his kids hers … so, it’s going to be an emotionally tough road ahead.”

In late November 2020, the American Idol alum was granted primary physical custody of their little ones. According to documents obtained by Closer, the “Stronger” songstress was given primary custody of their daughter, River, and their son, Remington, due to an “increased” level of conflict.

“The court finds that under the circumstances present in this case, the interest in providing stability and continuity for the minor children weighs in favor of Petitioner having primary custody,” the court document read. “The parties have a difficult time coparenting due to issues of trust between them.”

In the former couples’ divorce settlement, Kelly and Brandon agreed to joint legal custody of the kids, with the talk show host having primary physical custody in Los Angeles. River and Remington will visit Brandon one weekend per month at the Montana ranch he’s been staying at since the pair’s split. Kelly made a one-time payment of $50,000to Brandon for the children’s private air travel costs, and Brandon in return agreed to pay Kelly $52,000 per month in rent to stay at the ranch, which he must vacate by June 1, 2022. Kelly must also pay Brandon $45,601 in child support a month for their children.

It’s been nearly two years since Kelly and Brandon called it quits, but fans are still shocked considering the “Because of You” songstress seemed so smitten about her longtime love. In fact, the duo’s romance kicked off with a whirlwind start as they got engaged just 10 months after they began dating in 2012.

The “My Life Would Suck Without You” singer sweetly opened up about her relationship with the music guru at the time. “I’ve never been truly loved like I am right now,” she gushed to Cosmopolitan in January 2013.

Even before welcoming River Rose and Remington together, Kelly marveled over becoming the proud stepmom to Brandon’s kids. “We all live together and everything. It’s so different, but it’s perfect. They’re awesome, and I actually really dig the mom thing,” Kelly revealed on “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” in 2013.

Savannah Blackstock

Brandon first became a dad when he and his former wife, Melissa, welcomed their oldest daughter, Savannah, on June 7, 2002. Following his divorce from the health insurance agent, Brandon met Kelly. When their romance led them to marry after a short amount of time together, Brandon’s two kids moved in with the new couple.

According to the teenager’s social media accounts, Savannah enjoys participating in equestrian competitions and already has a few wins under her belt. The gorgeous teen also had no problem getting along with her stepmom, considering Savannah has joined Kelly on award show red carpets.

She may not be her biological child, but The Voice judge gushed about her incredibly open and genuine relationship with Savannah.

“Anytime [Savannah] asks me questions, you know, life questions, it’s always like, ‘Just calm down and don’t take it all to heart. You gotta be easier about life. Let it go,'” she once told CBS8. “You cannot control people, you can’t control what they’re gonna say, you can’t control them being mean. Let it go, live your life and do what you feel is right.”

Seth Blackstock

Brandon and his ex-wife welcomed their second child, son Seth, on November 21, 2006. Just like his big sister, Savannah, Seth became the stepson to Kelly after his dad married the famous singer.

Seth may pop up on Kelly’s Instagram every now and then, but he most famously made an appearance at one of his stepmom’s shows in 2015, when he came out to sing and dance along with her backup singers to a cover of “Uptown Funk.”

In an interview in 2018, Kelly revealed how enjoyable Seth is to be around. “[He’s our] gamer. He’s kind of our actor as well,” she told People. “He’s a really fun, creative kid.” In our opinion, he’s so cute too!

River Rose Blackstock

Kelly and Brandon welcomed their first child together, daughter River Rose, on June 12, 2014. The “Piece by Piece” singer has written two children’s books inspired by her daughter, River Rose and the Magical Lullaby and River Rose and the Magical Christmas.

Kelly dished for being just a toddler, River Rose is “progressive” and smart. “She will run a company one day because there’s no way she’s gonna work for anyone,” she dished to People in April 2018. “She does not heed advice very well. She’s just very ballsy, which is awesome.”

It sounds like Kelly’s daughter may grow up to follow in her famous footsteps considering the adorable tot has already starred in one of her mom’s music videos. Kelly’s music video for “Broken and Beautiful” featured heartwarming moments between the mother and daughter.

Remington Blackstock

Kelly and Brandon welcomed their youngest child, son Remington, on April 12, 2016. Out of all four of her kiddos, the TV personality revealed that little Remy is the most sensitive — but still has a wild side.

“You will melt, you will be like, ‘Ugh,'” she told People. “[But] like our oldest, I think he’s gonna be more the athlete, just like, ‘How can I knock something over?’ He’s like the Tasmanian Devil — anything that can and will be destroyed, is.”

Kelly even hilariously revealed that her son has no idea that she’s a Hollywood star. “I think they look at me as ‘Mom,’ so they don’t really even [think about it],” she once shared with the outlet. “[Remington] has no idea. They’re just very normal. We’re not like, in the scene, ever.”

Although he mostly makes appearances on his mom’s Instagram, Remington hit the red carpet with his famous family at the premiere of Ugly Dolls in late April 2019. The then-toddler look so cute in his red carpet outfit!
