Singer Kelly Clarkson couldn’t be more excited to welcome the “best early Christmas present ever” next year, but her journey to parenthood has hit a few bumps along the way.

Kelly revealed on TODAY that she’s suffering from some pretty bad morning sickness. “I don’t know why they call it morning sickness, that’s my big joke right now,” she told Savannah Guthrie on Tuesday. “It’s like all day and all night.”

But the singer, who was on the show to promote her new Christmas album “Wrapped in Red,” clarified that she’s still “super-excited” to be expecting her first child. “I’m just looking forward to the second trimester,” she laughed.

The star acknowledged that her and hubby Brandon Blackstock had wanted to wait a little longer to announce the baby news, but her health made it necessary to speak up.

“We were trying to wait until the end of my first trimester … but everybody kept talking about it and I had to cancel something because I’ve been so ill. I didn’t want people to think I was canceling and I’m lazy or something, so we just told people,” she said.

The “American Idol” winner has been extremely open about her desire for a baby ever since her engagement to Blackstock in 2012, and now the country sweetheart is certain she’s having a girl.

“It’s a gut feeling,” she said of predicting the baby’s gender. “Because she’s killing me, and of course it’s a girl causing the trouble.”

One thing the couple isn’t having trouble over? Selecting baby names. “We already have a name for girl or boy,” Kelly shared. “We’re not saying because I don’t want anybody stealing my baby name.”
