Katie Couric enjoyed one heck of a summer with her two daughters, Ellie and Carrie. The iconic news anchor gave fans a glimpse inside their favorite memories as she shared rare family photos with her kids and husband John Molner.

“Scenes from summer 2020 … what a strange summer it’s been!” Katie, 63, captioned an Instagram post on Monday, September 7. “Wishing you all a relaxing Labor Day during these very difficult times and hoping you stay healthy and you’re surrounded by people you love.”

Alongside her sweet message, the beloved Today alum uploaded a handful of snaps smiling with Elinor, 29, Caroline, 24, husband John, 57, and other friends and family members. Although they spent much of their time at home amid the coronavirus pandemic, Katie and her kids made the most of it by enjoying the outdoors and taking trips to the beach.

Just days prior, the former Yahoo Global News anchor — who shares her girls with late husband Jay Monahan — revealed she wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the warm weather and long sunshine-filled days.

“[Throwback] to earlier this week. Molner already posted this, but I’m a copy,” Katie adorably wrote next to a cute photo of her and her spouse posing in front of the dunes on the beach on September 3. The proud mom added the hashtag, “summer don’t go” at the end of her post.

Considering Katie is always working hard and pursuing something new in her career, spending endless time with her kids amid the pandemic must have been the best gift. Even when Ellie and Carrie were little girls, the CBS Evening News alum still focused on her TV career — which is something she doesn’t regret whatsoever.

“Get rid of the guilt,” Katie explained to Insider in 2015. “When you’re at one place, don’t feel bad that you’re not at work; when you’re at work, don’t feel bad that you’re not at home.”

On certain days when she struggled, the Sugar Savvy Solution author offered some advice for how she gets it done. “You have to prioritize,” she explained to the outlet. “And when things are really important and you need to be there, you should make no apologies.”
