OMG!Katie Couric Is Returning to ‘Today’

Katie Couric is back!

The TV star is returning to Today for a week-long stint beginning on Jan. 2, according to the LA Times. This will mark her first return to the show since she left a decade ago to join CBS Evening News. Katie was previously on Today for 15 years prior to her exit in 2006.

The 58-year-old is excited to sit alongside her former co-host and good friend, Matt Lauer, after all this time. She previously appeared on the morning talk show in 2011 with him when she was promoting her book, The Best Advice I Ever Got.

Katie expressed how eager she is for her comeback in an Instagram post shared on Thursday, Dec. 22. “Talk about old home week! Looking forward to getting together with the gang and celebrating Matt’s 20th anniversary on Today!” she captioned a throwback photo of the two. Matt — who became a co-anchor on Today in 1997 — reportedly signed a two-year-long contract recently with the popular series at $20 million per year.

The mom-of-two is filling in for Matt’s usual co-host, Savannah Guthrie, who is currently out on maternity leave. The 44-year-old welcomed her second child, a son named Charley, on Friday, Dec. 9.
