Kensington Palace Confirms That Kate Middleton Will Celebrate 37th Birthday Without Prince William

She may be turning 37 in a few days, but Kate Middleton will be blowing out her candles alone after it was confirmed that Prince William will be working on the day of her birthday. According to Kensington Palace, the Duke of Cambridge will be making his first official 2019 visit to the London Air Ambulance on Wednesday, Jan. 9 to (ironically) celebrate 30 years of its existence.

It doesn’t surprise us that William is going through with his plans rather than celebrating his wife’s birthday. After serving nearly five years as a helicopter pilot with the RAF’s Search and Rescue Force, the 36-year-old worked as an air ambulance pilot from 2015-2017 with the East Anglian Air Ambulance when William, Kate, and their kids were living in Norfolk. Knowing that this is something near and dear to his heart, we understand why the Duchess would give him the green light to go and enjoy himself.

Even though Kate will be celebrating solo, her children are expected to accompany her while William is away. According to Express, it’s likely that Prince George, 5, will attend school during the day while the couple’s youngest children, 3-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 8-month-old Prince Louis, will stay at home with their beautifully-aging mama.

As we wait to hear about Kate’s first royal engagement of 2019, Kensington Palace just announced Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s plans. Luckily for the couple, they have the rest of this week and weekend to relax before heading out for their first royal outing of the year.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit Birkenhead on Monday, Jan. 14. Their Royal Highnesses will visit a number of local organizations that support and empower groups within the local community, including @TomorrowsWomen and @TheHiveYZ,” Kensington Palace tweeted on Monday, Jan. 7.

The Duke and Duchess’ first royal outing marks the exciting start of the new year for the Sussex’s. Meg, 37, and Harry, 34, will not be a family-of-two for much longer as the former Suits actress is expected to give birth to the couple’s first child in spring 2019. Royal admirers all around the world have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of baby Sussex after Harry and Meg announced she was pregnant in an official statement on Monday, Oct. 15. We hope the royal couple cherishes the last of their royal engagements before their little bundle of joy arrives!
