Still Mom to them! Kate Hudson recently opened up in an interview about shaving her head, and revealed that her young sons didn’t find the drastic new ‘do shocking at all. Speaking with E! News, the 38-year-old actress explained why her kids couldn’t care less if she has a full head of hair or not.

“My kids didn’t really care,” Kate — who shares son Ryder, 13, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and son Bingham, 6, with ex Matt Bellamy — told the outlet, adding that she believes allowing her youngest to be part of the process made her buzzcut more palatable. “Bing actually cut it. I thought for him to be a part of it wouldn’t feel so shocking.” Scoll down for more info on Kate’s new look!

Why did Kate Hudson shave her head?

Kate explained that she buzzed off her signature blonde locks for a role in Sister — a feature film set to be released later this year — which was co-written and directed by “Chandelier” singer Sia. “I wish the story felt [bigger],” she said. “For me, it was a necessary thing to do for this part. I was so excited about it. So it was like, ‘OK, let’s just shave it.’ So it was more excitement than overthinking it.”

What do her kids think of her shaved head?

Kate — who has said, “every woman at one point should just shave [their hair] all off” — said in a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight that her eldest child has teased her for copping his look. “Ryder‘s like, ‘Mom, you’re cramping my style,’” she joked, before sharing, “But when I did it, he was like, ‘Oh my God, we actually…’ It was the first time he even could see that we looked, you know, that he looked like his mommy. But it was really cool.”
