Kate Hudson Shares Throwback Home Video of ‘Amazing’ Son Ryder for His 16th Birthday
Another trip around the sun! For Kate Hudson‘s son Ryder’s 16th birthday, the 40-year-old actress shared the best home video ever of her kid blowing out the candles on his birthday cake when he was only 2 years old.
“I didn’t realize it would be here so fast! 16 years today,” she wrote alongside the clip on Instagram. “16. I will savor these next couple years before he flies the nest. People sometimes get sad on days like this. Time creeps up on us and rocks us a bit, reminding us that the years don’t wait for us to be ready.”
“Well, RYDER IF YOU’RE READING! I’M READY!!! I’m excited for your future,” she continued. “An amazing young man you are. I am honored that you chose me to be your mother. And here’s the thing … you still have two years under this roof. My roof, my rules 😉 Happy Birthday baby @mr.ryderrobinson.”
Taking to the comments section, Kate’s friend Gwyneth Paltrow wrote, “I simply cannot believe it. How is it possible??? Happy birthday our sweet, spirited @mr.ryderrobinson we love you!”
The Bride Wars star shares Ryder with her ex-husband, Chris Robinson. Even though they separated in 2007, they still try to coparent their son in the best way possible.
“When you get divorced, you’re still in a relationship,” Kate — who is also mom to kids Bingham, 8 and Rani, 1 — explained on Divorce Sucks! with Laura Wasser. “It’s just a different kind of relationship. You’re going to have good days, you’re going to have bad days, you’re going to have good weeks, bad weeks.”
However, Chris isn’t the only guy who Kate coparents with. Since she’s no longer in a relationship with Bingham’s dad, Matt Bellamy, they try to do the best they can for their son. “Kate and Chris are on better terms than they ever were!” an insider recently shared to Closer Weekly. “Ryder can float between either parent as long as it doesn’t interfere with school.”
As for Rani, her parents — Kate and Danny Fujikawa — are still together and stronger than ever.
“This man has given me the most beautiful gifts life can give and the depth of gratitude I feel for the day he was born is beyond any measured spoken word or post,” Kate previously gushed about her beau via Instagram. “I believe that this gratitude exists and is present in our daughter’s joy and her magical spirit.”
