Inside Kate Hudson’s Kids’ Special Bond With Step Grandfather Kurt Russell

What a close family! Kate Hudson‘s kids are quite lucky, as not only do they have a great mom, but they have fantastic grandparents — and it is clear that the children have quite the special bond with their step grandfather, Kurt Russell.

“Kurt has always been close to Kate and seen her as his own daughter, so he couldn’t be prouder as he watches her embrace motherhood,” an insider reveals to Closer Weekly. “He loves nothing more than taking the kids for a weekend if Kate is working or traveling and he’ll play video games with the boys and let them eat a lot of chocolate. The same goes for [his son Oliver’s] children! Kurt is also head over heels in love with baby Rani and showers her with kisses and cuddles every chance he gets. He’s always picking out gifts for his grandchildren and it’s adorable to see how much he loves them.”

The Almost Famous actress shares son Ryder with her ex-husband Chris Robinson. The 40-year-old also has another child named Bingham, 7, that she had from a previous relationship with Matt Bellamy. Kate is currently dating Danny Fujikawa, and they recently had baby girl Rani.

This isn’t the first time that we have heard about how much the Tombstone actor, 68, and his love, Goldie Hawn, are all about their grandkids — a little while ago they mentioned all that they like to do with the little ones, especially around the holidays. “We always trim the tree on Christmas Eve and we have a big meal,” the Escape From L.A. star told Closer Weekly in an exclusive interview. After dinner, “the grandkids put their pajamas on and hang up their stockings. We get the fire going and when it gets dark we always choose someone to read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.” How lovely!

Goldie, 73, also has quite the special bond with her grandkids. “She sees her grandchildren all the time,” an insider told Closer before Kate had her first daughter. “She gets in the sandbox, blows bubbles, and acts silly.” She is also “an elephant advocate, so she’s already bought [Rani] a huge pink elephant.”
