“We’re exploring this jungle and trying to conquer the game; it’s life or death. But while we’re there, we find clues left behind by [Robin’s character Alan Parrish]. He built up a full-blown jungle house, similar to a Swiss Family Robinson situation. It’s like he’s there helping us without actually being there,” the 47-year-old actor told The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday, June 18.

The original Jumanji hit theaters in 1995 and starred Robin alongside Bonnie Hunt, Jonathan Hyde, Bebe Neuwirth, and a young Kirsten Dunst. The new story follows four teenagers who find a vintage video game version of Jumanji and get sucked into its jungle setting.

“[In the original] you never got to see the inside world. But this one takes place primarily inside the jungle of Jumanji. That’s the coolest part of the film — we’re able to transport the audience to that secret and wondrous land, with the danger and the beauty,” Jack said of the sequel.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle also stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas. The new movie is set to hit theaters on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017.
