No matter how perfect Hollywood couples may look from the outside, it’s safe to say that there’s more to the story than meets the eye! Julianne Hough and her husband, Brooks Laich, are one such pair. The former Dancing With the Stars judge, 30, recently opened up about her marriage to the ice hockey player, 35, and she had some refreshingly honest insights to share.

“I’m not a newlywed anymore, technically, so … I think the best part [of being married] is that you go through your ups and downs, but you always know that the ugly parts of you are your best parts,” the blonde beauty told Us Weekly at Spotify’s Best New Artist party at the Hammer Museum on Friday, February 7 in LA.

Morning cuddles with my love❤️

It’s clear that Julianne has a healthy view of what it takes to keep a marriage going. She continued, “I don’t know, that sounds really deep. But … those parts of you are the parts that you get to share with the person [who will remain] next to you at all times.”

Hmmm, perhaps Julianne should consider becoming a marriage counselor — we think a lot of A-list couples could benefit from her advice! The Safe Haven star went on to explain why arguments can actually end up being beneficial — and even strengthen the relationship.

“In those [difficult] moments, [it’s great] when you actually get to purge and then you’re like, ‘OK, I love you. Come back to me,'” she said. Does anyone else think this is amazing advice, or just us?

Julianne noted that while a lot of people perceive her as this happy-go-lucky person, there’s more to her, and subsequently more to her marriage, than just that. “You can’t have the bright without the dark,” she concluded. Thanks for your words of wisdom, Julianne!
