Don’t let her fool you, Julia Roberts is actually a very strict parent! The mom-of-three recently revealed that she likes to keep tabs on how many hours her kids watch TV and spend on the internet so she doesn’t expose them to the realities of the world too soon.

“I have three young children so I’m very careful about turning the TV on,” she said about twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 14, and son Henry, 11. “It’s interesting trying to raise kids in this day because it’s all so new — the pressures, the resources, having the world in your hand like that.”

Julia, 51, also tries to keep her kids off social media because they’re still so young. “I try to keep them off social media, because I don’t really understand what they need that for right now,” the Oscar winner explained. Julia’s kids with Daniel Moder probably don’t even know how famous their parents really are because she doesn’t let them go on Facebook or Instagram so often.

“It was like, ‘You’re famous?'” Julia previously recalled to Harper’s Bazaar about a conversation she had with her children. “I just said, ‘A lot of people might know who I am.’ Then maybe an hour goes by. ‘Are you more famous than Taylor Swift?'”

Even though the kids don’t understand the extent of her fame, Julia doesn’t feel the need to explain it to them. “They’re not spoiled or entitled, and she made quite an effort to keep their lives as normal as possible to avoid that,” a friend previously told Closer Weekly about the actress’ brood.

Since having kids, Julia has turned down a couple of movie roles but its only made her show Hazel that she too can have freedom in her career. “Julia wants to set an example for Hazel that she can do whatever she wants in life,” the friend shared. “She doesn’t want Hazel to see any limitations to being a woman.”
