Julia Roberts Reportedly Takes Husband Danny Moder on a Surprise Trip to Alaska for His 50th Birthday
Homecoming star Julia Roberts seems so in love with her husband, Danny Moder! The actress, 51, reportedly surprised her hubby by recently taking him, their 14-year-old twins, Phinnaeus and Hazel, and a few of their friends to stay at a private mountain house in Alaska to celebrate Danny’s 50th birthday on Thursday, January 31.
According to a new report, Julia’s family stayed at the Sheldon Chalet — which is located in Denali National Park and can only be reached by helicopter — and a cameraman who was on the trip told Life & Style Weekly that the group enjoyed “fresh powder and cuisine” every day of their vacation. “It was a sweet surprise. Danny was completely blown away,” a source recently told the magazine of the trip, adding that, unfortunately, the couple’s youngest child, Henry Moder, 11, wasn’t able to make it for the special visit to Alaska.
Although there allegedly wasn’t any cell service in the remote area of Alaska they traveled to, Julia and Danny apparently got to wake up to a great panoramic view of the mountains and spend some quality time together. Their trip also reportedly helped to strengthen their relationship because Julia showed Danny that she could make time in her busy schedule to work on their marriage.
“[Julia] promised Danny that she’d slow down and try to live in the moment. And they did just that,” the insider shared. Although Julia and Danny have been married since 2002, they’ve reportedly experienced a few ups and downs in their marriage.
For example, another source previously told Life & Style Weekly that they “were often at odds over his desire to wear the pants in the family” and Danny sometimes gets irritated by Julia’s “controlling ways.” Tensions were allegedly once high between the two but Julia apparently managed to turn everything around by taking her husband to Tavarua Island in June 2018.
“Julia pulled out all the stops to show Danny how much she values him and their relationship,” the insider said. “It’s managed to pull them back from the brink.” We’re so happy that Julia and Danny seem to be in a great place today!
