The two women are forces to be reckoned with both on the big screen and on the red carpet, and Emily Blunt and Julia Roberts have finally dished their secrets for getting red-carpet ready. Behind each powerful woman is her stylist: Julia has been serving looks dreamed up by Elizabeth Stewart since 2007, while Emily has been teamed up with Jessica Paster for over a decade as well.

Julia first started taking the red carpet by storm when her career took off back in her Steel Magnolias and Pretty Woman days. Throughout the years working with Elizabeth, the Wonder star, 51, has come to learn that her stylist always knows exactly what the actress needs in her wardrobe.

“Elizabeth is the dream girlfriend who builds a closet around the trip,” the brunette beauty recently gushed to The Hollywood Reporter. “‘This is what you could wear to lunch, and then when you work at evening, you can wear this, and you can change into these shoes,'” she mimicked Elizabeth.

While Julia highlighted her stylist’s skill to perfect her dream closet, Emily, 36, opened up about learning to take bold fashion risks. In the beginning of her career, the Mary Poppins Returns star shied away from bold statements and used sparkles as her safety net. “Sequins, tight and beaded. That was kind of how I went,” she told the outlet. Reminiscing back on her 2008 BAFTAs dress, the mother-of-two kept it simple as she wore a turquoise Marc Bouwer gown covered head-to-toe in sequins.

“I was scared to wear anything too crazy at that point,” the award-winning actress admitted. Now, the A Quiet Place star struts her stuff looking better than ever. In February, Emily donned a patterned black Dolce & Gabbana tux with an oversized bowtie and pointy-toe pumps as she accompanied her husband, John Krasinski, in a matching ensemble at the Writers Guild Awards.

She’s made many other brazen risks, and Emily credits Jessica with pushing her out of her comfort zone. “I do really love red carpets because they’re full of fantasia and it’s so not what I wear every day, and so I think she’s taught me a great deal about boldness and it can bring out an element of yourself you didn’t quite know was there, and I think then the dress never wears you,” she gushed. “You’re always comfortable.”

Both Julia and Emily have had their fair share of striking fashion moments on award show red carpets, and there is one thing that both women would always agree on: “It takes a village,” Julia admitted of Elizabeth and the rest of her team. “This woman is tireless in her efforts to make me look like I am effortless.”
