America’s sweetheart Julia Roberts is coming clean about her life as a young actress. The 49-year-old Pretty Woman star admitted to Harper’s Bazaar UK that her rise to fame didn’t always have a great effect on her character. In fact, she revealed that since meeting husband Danny Moder and giving birth to her three kids, twins Hazel and Phinneaus, 12, and son Henry, 10, her entire outlook on her career has changed.

“In the last couple of years, Julia has evolved into someone who is very centered and extremely self-confident,” Mark Bego, author of Julia Roberts: America’s Sweetheart, exclusively told Closer Weekly. The actress’ 50th birthday is right around the corner and with age has come wisdom.

“It was meeting Danny… finding my person,” she explained. “When I think about what makes my life my life, and makes sense and just shine inside of me, it’s him. Everything has come from that for me.” And, she’s even had the opportunity to work with her hubby. “There’s comfort there, but also terror, which is a good combination. Terror because the person I want to impress most is looking right at me.” Watch the video below to learn more about Julia!

It makes sense after decades, countless films, and an array of awards that Julia now has the privilege to be picky with which roles she chooses to pursue. She’s now a mother and focuses more on her family than movies.

“Deep down, we all know you can’t stand on the top point of a pinnacle on your tiptoes, and not at some point lose your balance, or get tired, or say, ‘OK somebody else take over, I have to go to the bathroom.'” she continued. “There are great things I’ve accomplished and I’d be happy to accomplish more, of course, to impress my children and my husband. But you know what? I’ve been spoilt already.”

She joked that these days she’s more of a “soccer mom” than a movie star. “If I wasn’t here today, I’d be in the carpool lane ferrying my kids to school,” she quipped. And when it comes to turning 50 in the ageist Hollywood, she’s not too worried about it. “Too much thinking and pondering, it’s exhausting me. Because we’re still moving forward, aren’t we?”
