Judith Light Opens up About the Possibility of a ‘Who’s the Boss?’ Reboot
Well, Judith Light clearly isn’t the boss when it comes to deciding to do a reboot of the hit ’80s sitcom Who’s the Boss?, which originally aired from 1984 until 1992.
In a new interview, the actress (who played Angela Bower in the show) opened up about a possible revival of the series she starred in alongside Tony Danza (as Tony Micelli), Alyssa Milano (as Samantha Micelli), Danny Pintauro (as Jonathan Bower), and Katherine Helmond (as Mona Robinson). However, she didn’t sound too convincing.
“I don’t know,” she admitted to Entertainment Tonight. “Nobody’s really talked about it, and I don’t know. I mean, we’re all working. Tony’s got a show on Netflix, Alyssa’s working, Danny’s working, and you know, Katherine’s working, I’m not sure we’d be able to put it together. Nobody’s really talked about it, so I don’t know.”
However, her co-star Alyssa is singing a different tune. When asked by Closer Weekly about her feelings on a reboot of the hit show, she replied, “I think we’re all open to it.”
The mom-of-two added, “You know, we kind of all feel a specific way about it, which is what we did in in 1983 was very forward-thinking — you know, it was a show about a single, divorced woman, mom, who was living with her very promiscuous mother, who also owned her own business, and that just wasn’t depicted on television at that time, and then she hired a dude to become her housekeeper, who was a single father — I mean, it was very progressive for that time period and what was on TV at that time, which was family sitcoms. So, really, I feel like we were like a Modern Family type of show, so keeping that in mind, I think we’d all be open to it if it lived up to what we did then.”
She even confessed that she’s still close with all her co-stars today. “I still talk to everybody! The only person who is a little difficult to keep in touch with is Katherine because she’s not on social media or e-mail or anything, she’s in her 90s, but I still communicate with her over the phone and I just saw her.” When asked who she keeps in touch with the most, she said, “Probably Tony. He checks in all the time just to see how the kids are doing, he’s very sweet.” Well, hopefully Alyssa can convince everyone to bring the show back very soon!
