Jon Voight Gushes Over Reconciling With Estranged Family Ahead Of Milestone 80th Birthday (EXCLUSIVE)
As he prepares for his milestone 80th birthday in December, Jon Voight is sharing what he’s learned about the importance of family — both real and fictional. “I deeply appreciate his enormous talent,” Jon raved of Liev Schreiber, who plays his son on Ray Donovan, at the Tribeca TV Festival. “The only thing more satisfying than working with Liev would be working with my daughter.”
Since years of estrangement beginning in the 1970s, Jon has made peace with his daughter, Angelina Jolie, but their relationship was not the only one that needed to be salvaged. After Angelina opened up about how the father-daughter pair is making it work after years of ups and downs, Angelina’s older brother, James Haven, revealed he too has made amends.
James spoke to Closer Weekly in an exclusive interview this past spring about how he reconciled with their father. “It was really a trifecta, meaning she found peace with him, and I found peace,” he shared. “This story has come full circle. A big part of it is just coming to that point where you deal with and solve and rectify things. It’s nice.”
Despite his complicated family dynamic hopefully in the past, Jon says he cherishes the time he spends with Angelina’s six kids. “I’m a very loving grandpa,” he told Closer. “I am entertained by the children. I love them, and I’d do anything for them, of course. And they know it.”
Reflecting back on his long, successful life, Jon is happy to share some words of wisdom: “Grandfathers give grandchildren something they can’t get anywhere else. Anyone who gets to be 80 has gone through a lot!”
