People may have opposing views about 50-year-old Johnny Depp dating an actress 23 years younger than him. But for Johnny, he can care less about Amber Heard’s age.
When asked if the age difference has been a problem, he replied, “I don’t think so. I’ve got a lot of life experience, certainly, but I don’t feel like I’m looking down on her. Or being her mentor. I actually feel like she’s the one inspiring me!”
Before proposing to the 27-year-old 3 Days to Kill star, Depp ended his longtime relationship with French model Vanessa Paradis – the mother of his two children – in the summer of 2012.
He added that at the time of his partnership with Vanessa, he wasn’t ready for marriage. “'Sometimes, even things that seem simple and obvious are scary. I think age, experience and wisdom give us the capacity to move beyond certain stages we didn't dare cross before,” he said in an interview with French TV magazine Télé 2 Semaines.
Depp and Heard, who met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2010, have been very private about their relationship. The couple celebrated their engagement mid-March with close friends and family in Downtown L.A.
"You can find pictures of me [on the Internet] pumping gas, picking up dry cleaning, walking my dog, but nowhere are you going to find pictures of me hanging around at some nightclub," Amber told Flare magazine’s September 2013 issue about keeping her personal life private.
The couple will reunite onscreen in the crime thriller London Fields, alongside Billy Bob Thornton, Jim Sturgess and Theo James.
