The Oscars broadcast attracted 43 million viewers on Sunday night…a statistic John Travolta might want to forget!

The Grease star set social media abuzz when he butchered Broadway vet Idina Menzel's name while introducing her performance of the Oscar-winning song "Let It Go" from the Disney film Frozen.

The actor finally spoke out about the major gaffe in which he called the Tony winner Adele Dazeem.

"I've been beating myself up all day," Travolta revealed in a statement released Tuesday. "Then I thought, what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, let it go, let it go!" he quipped, referring to the song's title.

The 60-year-old added, "Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!"

According to various reports, Menzel found the incident funny and gave the presenter a big hug after her performance. But Oscar insiders were just as surprised by the mistake as viewers, claiming the two-time nominee had no problem with the pronunciation during rehearsal.
