John Stamos’ Tribute to His Late Father Is Quite the Tear-Jerker
Actor John Stamos really knows how to tug at our heartstrings. The Full House star took to social media on Saturday, Dec. 16 to remember his late father, Bill John Stamos, nearly 20 years after his death.
"I will certainly fall short of the father my pop was, but — I’m going to give it my all! #Balance #BillStamos #Hero," the 54-year-old wrote on the social media platform. John's dad sadly died in 1998 and his mother, Loretta Stamos, passed away in September 2014.
This isn't the first time John has publicly remembered his late parents. At the TV Land Icon Awards in 2016, the A-lister teared up while thanking them during his acceptance speech. "I want to thank my parents. Boy, they would've loved this, Loretta and Bill… They were really good people. They taught me to be kind and to be generous and to be loving to everyone that you meet on this journey," John said onstage at the time.
John emotionally revealed his mother's death three years ago. "The love of my life passed away yesterday in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren," he wrote. "My mother had enough love to fuel a small country. She was truly one of a kind and will live forever in the hearts of all who knew her." He continued, "A few weeks ago, I asked my mom if she remembered an inconsequential event — she simply replied, 'I only remember the love.' #BrokenHearted #ILoveYouTheMost."
And now that he's engaged and expecting baby no. 1 with fiancée Caitlin McHugh, John wants fans to know just how much his parents would have loved his pretty lady. "I know my parents are smiling down," he told Entertainment Tonight of how they would feel about his soon-to-be wife. "I know they would love her. She's a gentle, kind, graceful soul who would be a good mother." So sweet.
