When he’s not selling out concerts around the world, John Mellencamp spends his time doting on his grandkids. The iconic rocker’s daughter Teddi Mellencamp exclusively tells Closer Weekly why she feels “really grateful” to have the “Jack and Diane” crooner as a grandpa to her four children.

“It’s just so crazy. The kids get so excited to see [John] when he comes [to visit],” Teddi, 38, gushes of kids Slate, 7, Cruz, 5, Dove, 1 month, and stepdaughter Isabella, 10.

The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star — who has been hosting live workouts via her fitness program’s Instagram, ALL IN by Teddi, amid the coronavirus quarantine — says it’s extremely special to watch the Grammy winner, 68, make such beautiful memories with her big brood.

“I’m such a picture taker in general, but I love to have those pictures of seeing him with each one of the babies,” Teddi sweetly continues, referring to a photo she shared of John and newborn baby Dove in early March. “It’s nice … and especially since we all live so far apart, I feel really grateful that he was able to be out and visit before [the coronavirus pandemic] happened.”

John is the loving dad of Teddi and his four other children, so it’s no surprise the fitness guru dishes he’s “the same way” as a grandpa. “For me, he’s the person I always go to for advice and stuff like that, but he’s such a jokester as well,” she tells Closer. “He’s like sarcastic and funny and playful, so it’s fun.”

Teddi jokingly adds, “What I always tell people when they meet him is, ‘If he’s not teasing you, then he probably doesn’t like you!'” LOL!

Earlier this month, the “Hurts So Good” singer made headlines when news was revealed that he’s officially off the market. Just five months after he and ex-girlfriend Meg Ryan called off their engagement, a source exclusively told Closer that John “finally moved on” and “found love again” with beauty expert Nurse Jamie Sherrill.

“They’ve been together for at least a month,” the insider shared on April 1. “From what I know, it’s pretty serious.”

Luckily, John has all the support from his family considering a second insider told Closer that Teddi is “really happy” for her dad and his new lady. “Teddi is friends with Nurse Jamie,” the source divulged on April 7. “She’s known her for a while – before she started dating her dad.”

Be sure to catch Teddi and her family when Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premieres on Bravo on April 15th at 8 p.m. ET!
