Chip and Joanna Gaines’ 5 Kids Have the Cutest Names! Find Out the Meanings Behind the Monikers

Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines are the parents of some of Hollywood’s most adorable kids. But the Fixer Upper couple’s five children, Drake, Ella Rose, Duke, Emmie Kay and Crew, have names with the cutest meanings behind them as well.

The former HGTV stars welcomed their eldest son, Drake, in 2005. The longtime lovebirds, who tied the knot in 2003, expanded their family with the arrival of daughter Ella in 2006, followed by son Duke in 2008 and daughter Emmie Kay in 2010. Eight years later in 2018, Chip and Jo completed their brood with the birth of their youngest son, Crew.

As you can see from their super sweet monikers, Joanna and Chip have adapted a trend of giving their boys a name that starts with a “D,” while both their girls have two-word names that start with an “E.” However, that tradition changed when the We Are the Gardeners author gave birth to their little bundle of joy.

At the time the famous family welcomed Crew into their lives, Joanna was getting used to her new life with a newborn baby. Fortunately, she got the hang of juggling her busy career and her role as a mom of five.

“I kid with people, ‘If you ever want to feel young again, have a baby at 40,’” the beloved TV personality adorably joked with People in March 2019. “It’s brought this whole new thing for me where I’m a lot more laid-back. People joke that I’m the ‘Fun Jo’ now.”

Before she became the mom of Crew, she used to be so much harder on herself. “I realized there has to be spontaneity, and schedules kind of go out the door,” she explained. “It’s like, ‘Hey, if I don’t get to it, it’s fine.’ I’ve just relaxed so much more, and it’s been fun for me.”

Watching her youngest kiddo grow up before her very eyes has also given Joanna “an extra kick in my step,” she marveled. “It woke me up a little bit. Life was doing its thing, and this baby — typically you feel tired, but this baby, he’s just like my second wind.”
