Jim Carrey‘s late girlfriend, Cathriona White, was married to another man at the time of her death.

“She was separated and she was going to start [her] divorce proceedings in December,” a source told People, of the 30-year-old’s marital status.

According to the entertainment news magazine, the 53-year-old actor’s girlfriend — who committed suicide on Monday, Sept. 28 — had an estranged husband who was listed as her next of kin on medical forms.

This latest development in the investigation of Cathriona’s passing comes just one day after reports emerged that the makeup artist overdosed with pills prescribed to Jim.

Following his girlfriend’s death, The Truman Show star released the following statement: “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”

Cathriona and Jim reportedly first began dating in 2012 but split soon after. They then rekindled their romance in May.
