Moments after being booed and hissed at by an audience in Berlin while defending her father, President Donald Trump, the First Daughter is in the spotlight again after Fox News host Jesse Watters made what many consider a suggestive comment about her.
At the event in Germany on Tuesday, April 25, Ivanka, 35, said onstage, "I’m very proud of my father’s advocacy. [He is] a tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive." Her comment immediately sparked a negative reaction from the audience, and the moderator even called her out on the claim. Ivanka remained calm and soft-spoken the entire time.
Later that night during Fox News, Jesse decided to speak out on the subject — but many thought he dropped a sexual innuendo while doing so. "I don’t know why also saying that ‘my father respects families’ is controversial and he’s probably hired a ton of fathers and mothers and children. So I don’t really know what’s going on here, but I really liked how she was speaking into that microphone." Uh...
His comment immediately sparked a lot of hate on social media. One user wrote, "Congratulations, Jesse Watters, you're a disgusting pig as well as being a racist moron." Another commented on Jesse's hands during the comment. "Did you notice the little hand gesture? When he said it? It's kind of subtle but it's there 🙄😒," they wrote.
The criticism led him to defend himself on Twitter. "On air I was referring to Ivanka’s voice and how it resonates like a smooth jazz radio DJ," he wrote on Wednesday, April 26. "This was in no way a joke about anything else." Ivanka has not yet spoken out on Jesse's claim, although the two do appear to be friends, as they've posed on Instagram together.
