It looks like Jesse Metcalfe is the next star to come to the defense of Meghan Markle! While attending the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Winter 2019 TCA event on Sunday, February 10, the Desperate Housewives actor revealed that he and the Duchess of Sussex go back “many years.”

“Obviously the news is flooded with all these negative stories and she just has crazy trolls and stuff, but hey, you know, screw the haters! I mean, who cares?” the 40-year-old stud shared with Entertainment Tonight regarding rampant rumors suggesting she’s feuding with her sister-in-law Kate Middleton and after facing attacks made by her father. “She’s lovely,” he added.

Jesse also gushed that Meghan being pregnant with her first royal baby with Prince Harry is “amazing.” He added, “I think it’s awesome.” But despite his affection for his pal Meg, 37, Jesse doesn’t think the duchess will be receiving an invitation to his upcoming wedding to fiancée Cara Santana. “I don’t think we’d probably invite her,” he confessed. “That would really turn our wedding into a spectacle, wouldn’t it?”

Even though we won’t be spotting the royal couple at his future nuptials, Jesse did dish that Meghan and Harry, 34, may have inspired them to choose London as their possible wedding location. “We were considering that, and I guess we still are considering it, because SoHo house has a property there that’s amazing in the English countryside,” he revealed. “We’ve had a lot of great times in London, so it’s a place that’s sort of near and dear to our hearts, but it’s sort of a random location, really.”

Jesse’s supportive comments for Meg come just days after other celebs have spoken out about the brutal criticisms that the new royal has been receiving the past few months. At a press panel for his new Hulu series Catch-22, George Clooney sweetly defended Meg after claiming that the royal has been receiving the same type of public scrutiny that Princess Diana did before her tragic death.

“They’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified,” George recently said about Harry‘s wife, according to Australia’s Who magazine. “She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it’s history repeating itself. We’ve seen how that ends.”

Princess Tessy Antony of Luxembourg also came to the former Suits actress’ defense when she took to Twitter on Sunday, February 10 to speak about an op-ed piece posted by Royal Central defending Meg against online criticism. “Absolutely! No one deserves that. One should never assume. Either you know or be [quiet],” the 33-year-old royal wrote. “It’s not nice to talk badly about someone else just because one can, as he or she takes advantage of the anonymity of the web.” With all the flack that Meghan has been receiving, we hope things can quiet down for the duchess before Baby Sussex arrives this spring!
