They may have separated in 2011, but Jennifer Lopez sure is thankful (in one way or another) for her marriage to ex-husband Marc Anthony. Besides having two beautiful children with the singer, the Second Act star recently revealed to Sunday Today‘s host Willie Geist that Marc “really helped with my confidence.”

Apparently, the 49-year-old went through a period of time where she lacked self-confidence. “He saw where I suffered,” Jen confessed. She even dished that he helped her career. “You’re a great singer,” Jennifer recalled her ex telling her. “I respected him so much because I consider him one of the best singers of all time.”

Even though the couple’s divorce was finalized in 2014, they have remained amicable exes for the sake of their 10-year-old twins, Max and Emme. Today, the actress has found new love with her boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, but it wasn’t an easy road to romance for the “Jenny On The Block” singer.

Before she started dating A-Rod in 2017, Jen was married and divorced three times. But after going to therapy, she was able to realize why her past relationships never worked out. “I was done blaming other people — he did this or he did that — and I said to myself, no, it’s you,” she recently explained to People.

Other than that, she had to work with a therapist to learn how to have a successful and healthy relationship. “Until I could really learn to be happy on my own and love myself, these relationships were never going to work out, no matter what. That was a big turning point for me,” Jen shared.

And when she met Alex, she knew he was too good to let go of. “It wasn’t until I met Alex that I felt like, ‘Okay, I can be in a relationship again,'” Jen gushed. “Everything feels healthy and different. We bring something to each other’s lives that is profound, good, and healthy.” How sweet!
