Jennifer Lopez Challenges ‘Today’ Hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie to 10-Day No Carb and No Sugar Diet
If you’re going to get diet and workout advice, it might as well be from Jennifer Lopez. The Second Act star is currently on Day 5 of her 10-day no carb and no sugar diet and she’s already looking amazing. But instead of focusing on her progress, Jen has begun challenging others to join her — and her next victims are Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie!
“We’re in the middle of our 10-day challenge and it’s getting lonely,” the 49-year-old said in an Instagram Story that she shared on Wednesday, January 23. “We’d like to challenge, let’s challenge some people. So, no sugar, no carbs, 10 days. I’m challenging Leah Remini, I’m challenging Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and I’m challenging Hoda. Hoda, I know you’re up for a good challenge.”
Today host Hoda, 54, accepted the challenge that day, however, the “Jenny From The Block” singer subsequently called into the hit morning show on Friday, January 25 to answer some questions about the diet — and challenged Savannah, 47, to follow the diet, too!
As she chatted with the hosts, Jen explained to Hoda, Savannah, Al Roker, Carson Daly and Craig Melvin how exactly the diet works. “It’s no sugar, no carbs. Anything that has sugar or carbs in it you cannot have. So you realize how much stuff sugar has in it,” Jen, whos’s following the strict regime with her boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, began. “So yesterday, I said, ‘OK, I’m going to have a turkey burger with some lettuce and some onions and pickles.’ But they said no pickles. Pickles have so much sugar in it!”
When Savannah began to propose a question for Jen over the phone, the actress unexpectedly yelled, “You’re officially challenged, Savannah!” Not seeming too thrilled, the mom-of-two asked, “Is tequila and a squeeze of lime juice allowed?” Ha!
Jen tried her best to convince her pals to take part in the challenge by letting them now about the positive results. “It’s a challenge to really reset your body. It’s something you do to clean yourself out. You lose a bunch of pounds on it, you will lose inches,” she said. And when the hosts asked if they could do a five-day challenge instead, Jen firmly denied their request. “Once you get rid of those sugars and those carbs it just starts coming over. I’m halfway through, five days through, I see a difference already,” she said.
Looks like Jennifer is good at convincing others to join her intense diet because all five hosts decided they would take part in the challenge by the time she hung up the phone! We can’t wait to see the results, Hoda and Savannah!
