Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez's Relationship: Fun Facts

It’s her time to party! Jennifer Lopez is officially embarking on a new chapter in her life and we have a feeling it’s going to be her best one yet. The Hustlers star is celebrating her milestone 50th birthday on Wednesday, July 24, and we imagine she couldn’t be happier to have future husband Alex Rodriguez by her side.

The “On the Floor” singer has been celebrating her birthday all summer on her It’s My Party tour. Jen first announced the news of her shows during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in February.

“This summer, I decided I wanted to do something big for my birthday since it’s a big birthday,” she shared with host Ellen DeGeneres. “I’m going on a U.S. tour, it’s called It’s My Party … We’re only doing 25, 28 shows, something like that. It’s just a small amount of shows, but we’ll be out all through June and July.”

Although Jen will be closing out her tour on July 25, we can’t imagine how excited she is to spend more time with her handsome beau and kids. “We’re really happy,” Jen gushed to People following the news of their March engagement. “We have [an] appreciation for where we are in our lives today, and that’s what we’re enjoying the most,” Alex, 43, added.

They Have a Huge Blended Family

They might be busier than ever with their schedules, but the pair always make time for their kids. Although they do not have any children together, the Second Act star and the baseball star are the proud parents of kiddos from previous relationships.

Jen is the loving mama to her two kids, 11-year-old twins daughter Emme Maribel Muñiz and son Maximilian David Muñiz. The iconic superstar shares her brood with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Alex, on the other hand, is the supportive dad of two daughters, Natasha Rodriguez, 14, and Ella Rodriguez, 11, with ex Cynthia Scurtis.

While blending two families can be hard, Alex and Jen’s kids couldn’t have made it any easier when they first started dating. “Our kids have become best friends and that keeps us both grounded and appreciative,” Alex once shared with People. “We couldn’t have asked for anything better than the four of them getting along as they do.”

Jen Was Alex’s ‘Dream Date’

Long before Jen and Alex were ever an item, the Sunday Night Baseball host wished they were! An old video from 1998 that resurfaced in early June showed the former Yankee — who was just 23 at the time — admitting that his “dream date” would be his soon-to-be wife.

In the heartwarming video, Alex can be heard being asked, “What would a dream date with Alex Rodriguez be?” Without hesitation, the handsome athlete confidently gushed, “Jennifer Lopez,” while sweetly smiling ear to ear before adding, “hopefully you can find me a date with her.”

If only young Alex knew what his future held!

It Was Love at First Sight

Even though it’s obvious Jen and Alex are meant to be, the “I’m Real” singer gushed that meeting him was basically like love at first sight — despite the fact they were both married to other people after first crossing paths back in 2005.

“We shook hands, and it was this weird electricity for, like, three seconds,” Jen shared with Sports Illustrated in late June, noting that they were at New York’s then Shea Stadium at the time. “Three to five seconds of looking at somebody right in their eyes, and getting stuck.” Aww!

A Fire Alarm Went Off During Their First Date

Nearly 12 years after their first meeting, Jen and Alex went on their first date at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles. “He was sitting there in his white shirt, very confident and manly, but then he was just so talkative!” the brunette beauty recalled to Vanity Fair in October 2017. “I think he thought I was going to be this loud person, but I’m not. I just listen. So he’s talking, talking about his plans, about how he had just retired from baseball, about how he saw himself getting married again, all these things you wouldn’t normally talk about on a first date. I don’t know if he thought it was a date. I thought it was a date.” LOL!

Even though things were heating up for the couple, their date sizzled off real quickly. “The fire alarm went off, and we had to evacuate,” Jen dished. Luckily, the first date still went well considering Jen and Alex have never been happier.

They Are Each Other’s Biggest Supporters

This comes as no surprise considering Jen and Alex always have their family’s back. After getting engaged in March, Jen opened up about the supportive relationship she shares with the baseball pro. “We love each other. We have a lot of love and respect and admiration for each other. And that is so nice and so different,” the “Jenny From the Block” singer gushed to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club. “I’ve never been with someone who lets me be [my] full … self. That makes me really happy. He’s like, ‘Just go, baby. Just go.’”

Alex even dished how special Jen is just weeks after they first began dating. “She’s an amazing, amazing girl, one of the smartest human beings I’ve ever met, and also an incredible mother,” he gushed during an appearance on The View while adding that he and Jen were having a “great time” together.

It didn’t take long for Alex and Jen to realize they’re a match made in heaven!
