Art imitates life. Jennifer Aniston‘s new Apple TV program The Morning Show will soon be released — and the actress is revealing that she can relate to the character she plays mainly because she knows all about struggling with fame.
The 50-year-old will be playing a news anchor named Alex, whom many in her industry have deemed as way past her prime — and that leads her to find a way to fight for her job. “There’s similarity to my life,” the Friends alum told the New York Times. “I relate in ways of feeling like, when you don’t want to be seen, and you don’t want to go out of the house, and you want to just scream, and you don’t want to walk on a red carpet. I don’t want to stand behind a podium, I don’t want to have my photograph taken, I just want to cry today. You know?”
However, now that she’s at the mid-century mark, and she’s been doing this for years, Jennifer feels like this is an important time in her life. “I’m entering into what I feel is one of the most creatively fulfilling periods of my life,” she told the outlet. “Seriously. I’ve been doing this for 30 years and I feel like it’s just about to really bloom.”
She added, “It’s taken time for me to get where I am and I put a lot of work into my craft. I’ve failed. I’ve succeeded. I’ve overcome. I’ve, you know, I’ve stayed around. I’m still here.” This isn’t the first time that the Murder Mystery star has gushed about how great she feels at her age — she once revealed that there haven’t been any dramatic changes in her life.
“Fifty was the first time I thought, ‘Well, that number,’” she explained to InStyle in an interview. “I don’t know what it is because I don’t feel any different. Things aren’t shutting down in any way. I feel physically incredible. So it’s weird that it’s all of a sudden getting telegraphed in a way that’s like, ‘You look amazing for your age.’ I think we need to establish some etiquette around that dialogue and verbiage.”
While Jennifer has had her ups and downs with fame, it certainly sounds like she’s feeling great with where she is in her life!
