Jenna Elfman may be best known for her role on the popular sitcom Dharma & Greg, but were you aware the actress is also a classically trained dancer?

The 42-year-old is now using her life-long passion to promote dance education through the Dizzy Feet Foundation, and the organization is excited to host its 4th Annual Celebration of Dance Gala this evening (July 19) in Los Angeles.

"It's one of our biggest fundraising times of the year…so that we can give scholarships to promising dancers who can't afford their tuition at their dance school," Jenna, who's on the board of trustees, tells Closer.

But that's not all the foundation has in store. Coming up on July 26 is the 5th Annual National Dance Day, which features events in Los Angeles, New York and Washington D.C.

Jenna will be heading to our nation's capitol to help teach a beginner and advanced dance routine to participants.

"The thing I love about National Dance Day is whether you dance for exercise, whether you dance for the art form, whether you dance for just the pure joy, dance is such a unique thing where you're in charge of your motions and you're in charge of your body and what you're going to do with it," she tells Closer.

"It's so liberating, you use all your muscles, your mind, your soul…And people start to smile when you dance! It's therapeutic and worthwhile."

All National Dance Day events are free and the public is encouraged to attend. If you would like to participate, more information can be found at dizzyfeetfoundation.org.
