Of all the wacky relationships in Hollywood, it’s refreshing to hear about a marriage like Jeff Bridges’!

The Oscar winner recently sat down for a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) which allows fans to ask their favorite celebrities any and all questions. Needless to say, they usually reveal a little dirt!

But the best part of the 64-year-old’s Q&A had nothing to do with juicy gossip. It came when one user asked: “I read that you’ve been married to your wife since 1977. To what do you attribute the success of your marriage in an industry notoriously hard on relationships?”

“Well, that’s certainly true,” Jeff answered. “This industry is tough on relationships. I’ve always thought that my wife [Susan Geston] should have a credit up alongside mine, because I couldn’t do what I do without her support.”

The True Grit star continued: “She’s been able to do all these films with me and we’ve managed to get through them all together. The toughest thing about making movies is being apart from your family.”

Though he’s away for months at a time, Jeff said he calls his wife everyday “to keep up to speed with what’s going on in her life and tell her what’s going on with mine.”

But another important aspect of keeping a marriage together? “You’ll think I’m silly, but to love each other, which begs the question: ‘What is love?'” wrote the L.A. native.

“Words that come to mind are openness, understanding, gentleness, kindness, and kind of working on those things, because everyone has a light and a dark side,” The Big Lebowski star mused.

While we swoon and gush over his sweet words, his last thoughts on the subject are particularly poignant. “Nurture being in love,” he concluded.
