Jane Pauley has done it all — co-host of the "Today" show, nighttime news anchor, daytime talk-show host, author, and mental health advocate. Yet there’s still one job she longs to have.

In the new issue of Closer, Jane says she’s ready for the next big milestone in her life — becoming a grandmother!

“Right now I’ve got two cats and I love them, but I’m thinking bigger,” Jane tells the mag about her hopes to soon be a grandmother. “I’ll try to be patient!”

Her son, Tom, is getting married “next June!” Jane excitedly shares. “And he and his fiancée, without realizing it, chose to be married on my anniversary, June 14.”

The date may be good luck for the new couple, as Jane and her longtime husband, Garry Trudeau, have been happily married for 35 years.

Jane says, “The secret to a happy relationship is the things left unsaid every day. Garry has been blessed by the one or two things that I didn’t say!”

Garry’s dedication has helped Jane through her struggle with bipolar disorder and his words of encouragement inspired her to finish her latest book, "Your Life Calling."

“He said, ‘If you still have a story you want to tell, you’re equipped to tell it.’ He was saying two things: ‘You’re a better writer than I thought you were.’ And the other thing was about my bipolar experience. He was giving me his blessing to tell the story.”
