Who will win?!
Jane, 79, and Lily, 77, are up for this year’s coveted Best Actress in a Comedy Series honor. Fellow actresses Ellie Kemper (for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Allison Janney (Mom), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish), and Pamela Adlon (Better Things) are also nominated for the award.
On Grace and Frankie — which premiered back in May 2015 — Jane portrays retired cosmetics mogul Grace Hanson and Lily plays hippie art teacher Frances “Frankie” Bergstein. The two unlikely women are brought together after their husbands (played by Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston) reveal they are in love and plan to get married.

Though Lily was previously nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for the show in both 2015 and 2016, this is Jane’s first Emmy nomination for Grace and Frankie.
If Jane wins the honor when the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards air on Sunday, Sept. 17, it will be her second Emmy win. She won for Best Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie for The Dollmaker back in 1984.
If Lily wins, it will be her sixth Emmy! In the past, she’s won Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for An Apology to Elephants (2013), Outstanding Writing — Comedy-Variety or Music Special for The Paul Simon Special (1978), Outstanding Writing — Comedy-Variety Or Music Special for The Lily Tomlin Special (1976), and Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special for Lily (1974).
Other notable 2017 Emmy nominees include Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder), Claire Foy (The Crown), Keri Russell (The Americans), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), William H. Macy (Shameless), Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies), and Susan Sarandon (Feud), just to name a few!
