Jake Gyllenhaal has babies on the brain!
In a new interview, the 34-year-old actor opened up about his wish to one day become a father — and gushed he would be "lucky" to raise a child of his own in the future.
"I am not a father yet, but it is definitely a dream of mine, should I be lucky to have that to happen," he said during a recent sit-down with [Entertainment Tonight](http://www.etonline.com/movies/167908jakegyllenhaalopensupabouthisdesiretobeafather/)_.

In his latest movie, Southpaw, Jake portrays a retired boxer who returns to the sport after his wife is tragically killed and his young daughter is taken away from him. Playing a dedicated dad in the film — his character's daughter is portrayed by Oona Laurence — helped him realize his desire to have his own children, Jake said.
"I have nieces who I love deeply and I have children in my life I love deeply, but when I met Oona for the first time, I just fell for her. Your heart opens up to her," he said of working with the 12-year-old.
Southpaw hits theaters Friday, July 24.
