Jaclyn Smith Honors ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Costar Kate Jackson in Birthday Tribute With Rare Photo

Much to the delight of fans, Jaclyn Smith and her Charlie’s Angels costar Kate Jackson are still very close.

Jaclyn, 79, posted a sweet tribute to Kate on Instagram in honor of her 76th birthday, featuring several photos of them together.

“Wishing a Happy Birthday to the Sabrina to my Kelly, and my friend for the ages, Kate Jackson! Thanks for being you,” she captioned the post on Instagram on Wednesday, October 30.

In the comments section, fans were happy to see the stars in the photos together. By the looks of the outfits they were wearing in the first photo, it looks like it was taken at the wedding of Jaclyn’s son, Gaston Richmond, and his now-wife, Bonnie Lane, in July 2023.

“Beautiful women. I can remember watching you all every week,” one person wrote. “It’s amazing how years go by but friendships that are real stand the test of time. Happy Birthday Kate you both are still very beautiful.”

“Love you two beautiful ladies!! Timeless friendship, a friend who loves at all times is a treasured gift,” another person said. “Happiest Birthday gorgeous Sabrina, Kate!! Wishing you nothing but happiness and many sweet blessings!!”

In August 2023, Jaclyn first posted photos and videos from Gaston’s wedding on her Instagram account. In one clip, Jaclyn posed with Kate, as the mother of the groom wore a mint green dress with feathered accents. Kate sported a blazer with white pants and sunglasses.

“There is nothing like family, and ours grew this weekend!” Jaclyn wrote in the caption of her post at the time. “I’m so endlessly proud of my son, Gaston, and am wishing him and Bonnie a lifetime of happiness.”

Kate famously portrayed Sabrina Duncan in Charlie’s Angels, while Jaclyn played Kelly Garrett. Kate left the show after season 3, while Jaclyn remained as a main cast member for all five seasons.

“I finally had to say, ‘Wait a minute, there’s my life, and there’s the show, and one is killing the other, so something has to go,’” Kate said. “I sure as hell wasn’t about to sacrifice my life for a television show.”

Kate’s most recent acting appearance came in a 2007 episode of Criminal Minds.

“I’d had it with Hollywood’s long hours, the politics, the backstabbing and the gossip,” she explained of why she took a step back from Hollywood. “It was not a great town for having your feet on the ground and living a normal life.”

As for Jaclyn, she recently said that she is grateful that Charlie’s Angels was the stepping stone for her to create her own empire.

“I owe it all to Charlie’s Angels, which gave me the opportunity,” Jaclyn told Closer on October 16. “I was the first actress who branded her own line at a time when everyone just lent their name to a product. Everyone said I shouldn’t do it, but it was probably the best thing I’ve ever done.”

She admitted that it took a lot of hard work and dedication to get to whether she is.

“You tend not to have a life of your own,” Jaclyn said. “You come home, eat dinner, study your lines and go to sleep.”
