An emotional collaboration. Luke Perry‘s son, Jack Perry, will make his acting debut in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with his late father.

“He’s like, ‘I want you to be in the same film or collection of footage that I’m in,’ and he was really adamant about it. I was like, ‘Alright dad, I’ll do it.’” the 21-year-old said during an interview on WWE wrestler Chris Jericho’s podcast, Talk Is Jericho.

Jack also revealed how pumped his father was to get the chance to work with the popular director, 56. “My dad was so excited about that. That kind of reinvigorated him and reenergized him. He said, ‘If I never work again, I’m happy with this,’” Jack explained. Quentin also had nothing but positive feelings towards Luke according to his son.

“Tarantino told me, ‘I handpicked your dad for this,’ I guess because his role was kind of symbolic,” Jack said. “He definitely knew he wanted my dad for it.” This isn’t the first time that Jack, a professional wrestler who goes by the name “Jungle Boy,” has mentioned his father and how excited he was over this upcoming movie.

“He was so proud of this, and so am I. Always a stud,” Jack captioned the film’s movie poster in a March 20 Instagram post.

The highly-anticipated film is set to be released on July 26 and star Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.

While the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum worked on many films and TV shows, his son does admit that he wasn’t too familiar with his dad’s work. “I really haven’t watched a ton of him acting but he did these movies in Canada, like Goodnight for Justice,” Jack said on the podcast. “He did those because he loved cowboy movies and he always wanted to be a cowboy. He did these movies so he could ride a horse. That, I think, in my heart, that’s my favorite [film of his] because that’s him doing what he wanted to do.”

Luke, who is also survived by his 18-year-old daughter Sophie, passed away on March 4 after suffering a stroke. Many people left him beautiful tributes and kind words, including Jack. “I’ll miss you every day that I walk this earth. I’ll do whatever I can to carry on your legacy and make you proud. ” he shared following his father’s death.
